About Our Studio
Sam Zust has lived in the Quad Cities since 2001 and was a graduate of Pleasant Valley High School. In May of 2016, she received her undergraduate degree in Kinesiology and Health with minors in Dance and Athletic Coaching from Iowa State University. Sam is currently a graduate student at the University of Iowa studying Clinical Exercise Physiology to eventually become an exercise specialist in a hospital cardiac rehabilitation program. Sam has been dancing since the age of 5, and her passion for dance has only kept on growing. In 2006, she became a member of Studio A Dance Company's competition team, of which she was a member until high school graduation in 2012. During her time at Studio A, she helped the company earn many Platinum awards and first overalls, even placing in the Top 5 for her lyrical and jazz solos at every competition in 2012. In addition to competitive studio dance, Sam was also a member of the Pleasant Valley High School Platinum Dance Team and the Iowa State University Dance Team. As the captain of the Platinum Dance Team her senior year, Sam helped lead her team to victory as they won two state titles for their pom and jazz routines at the ISDTA State Competition, placed in semifinals at UDA Nationals, and won the UDA American School Spirit Award. At Iowa State University, Sam performed at all ISU football and basketball games, was the Workout Captain for the team for the 2014-2015 and 2015-2016 school years, and helped coordinate philanthropic events for the Make-A- Wish foundation over the years. During Sam's senior year, the Iowa State Dance Team swept the competition, taking three first place titles at the ISDTA College State Competition, finishing fourth place at NDA Nationals for their team dance, and taking home the national championship title at NDA Nationals for their pom routine. Besides being a full time student, Sam is also an instructor for National Dance Alliance. Each summer she travels around the country teaching at dance camps to high school and college dancers. She has achieved the "Most Prepared Rookie" award and has received nothing but positive feedback from the coaches and advisors she has worked with. Sam absolutely loves meeting new people and teaching dance all over the country, and she cannot wait to share was she has learned with the dancers of Studio A.
